Who is Dhruv Rathee?

Dhruv Rathee is an Indian YouTuber, social media activist and mechanical engineer who shares his views on political and environmental issues on his YouTube channel. He mainly supports the AAP party and always stands against the ideology of the ruling party.

In 2013, Dhruv created a YouTube channel after his name during his higher studies. Initially, he posted a few travel videos with his iPhone. In 2014, he released a debut political video, titled “BJP Exposed: Lies Behind The Bullshit” where he targeting the BJP government that had been elected earlier that year.

College/School life:

Dhruv Rathee completed his early education from a CBSE school in Haryana and after that he went to Germany from where he completed his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He also completed his master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering.

Since childhood, he was inclined towards social causes and actively takes part in social campaigns like “Greenpeace” and “Sea Shepard”.

Career:

Dhruv Rathee started his career as a Mechanical Design Engineer after the completion of his master’s course in Germany. Since his school days, he has been a bright student and become a successful engineer by profession.

But due to his interest in social issues and politics, he becomes a successful YouTuber who posted videos on social awareness and political issues.

In 2011 he started taking more interest in political issues after the start of Anna Hazare’s movement in Delhi. He started his YouTube channel back in 2014 during his college days titled “Dhruv Rathee” and posted his traveling and photography videos.

In 2016, he also posted a video regarding the odd-even traffic rule that was announced in Delhi. He did the same as he wanted to answer a Delhi boy who praised Narendra Modi and was against the Chief Minister Shree Arvind Kejriwal.

He also give a podcast name :MAHABHARAT WITH DHRUV RATHEE on Spotify.

He regularly posts videos on his YouTube channel regarding current political situations and other social causes and sometimes found himself in trouble due to his controversial videos.

He also has a Facebook page titled “Dhruv Rathee Squad” on which he posted his views to counter fake news. He also runs a satirical news program titled “Pee News”.  

Controversies:

The YouTuber found himself in trouble many times for his controversial videos and comments regarding political issues, he mainly posted videos that are against the ruling government, and always seems biased towards a particular political party for which he has been criticized many times.

Also, a police complaint was registered against him for accusing a software engineer and a BJP supporter Vikas Pandey in Delhi in 2018.

Vikas registered a complaint against Dhruv and sued him for the defamation of 15 lakhs.

This happens after Dhruv’s video against Vikas stating that he worked for BJP IT cell and had tried to bribe Mahaveer Prasad who was a former BJP IT cell member

He is a huge fan of the journalist Ravish Kumar and follows his news channel NDTV. He also gets an invitation from Ravish Kumar to get featured on his show Prime TV on NDTV.

After that in 2019 Facebook also blocked Dhruv’s account for sometime after his controversial post regarding Hitler’s rise and comparison with the present scenario.

He is a professionally trained scuba driver certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
